Konga.com an online shopping website in Nigeria wanted to create a buzz around the yearly “Black Friday” season. The company needed to engage in a sales slash on every item on their platform as it joins the world in marking the popular growing Black Friday sales.
The team came up with an idea to “nigerianize” the event by interpreting the discount price slash with the local slang “Fall Yakata”. All items were to take a 70% slash in prices and it was a huge price drop that resonates with the campaign theme of Fall Yakata – “All prices don fall yakata”. To create a huge awareness campaign, the team decided to run awareness campaigns on Yahoo ROS and the major local Google publishing sites
